Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has a decision to make, and his connection to the LSU and Florida openings has caused a bit of a stir across the college football landscape.
Of course, the Rebels are right in the thick of their season, battling for a spot in the College Football Playoff and beyond. Ole Miss is 10-1 on the season with just one matchup to go, the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State. According to Ole Miss’s AD, Kiffin is expected to make a decision following the Egg Bowl.
Obviously, this whole situation raises some questions and concerns. How will the decision affect Kiffin and the Rebels as they look to secure a Playoff spot, and how does it affect not only his players, but players who go through similar scenarios in the future? What kind of precedent is this setting?
On Saturday, live on the set of College GameDay, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban was asked to give his thoughts on the whole situation. He insists that this is not necessarily a Lane Kiffin conundrum, but a college football conundrum. Check out his full thoughts on the matter below:
Keep in mind that Saban fired Kiffin back in 2017 ahead of the national championship game against Clemson, feeling Kiffin was pre-occupied with building his staff at Florida Atlantic. In other words, he has some experience with a very similar situation.
As mentioned above, a decision on his future is expected from Kiffin across the next few weeks.
