It appears Alabama’s coaching staff had an impossible task following the Tide’s dominant 59-0 victory over Vanderbilt.
How do you decide which players to honor following such a performance? Simple, you honor them all! Alabama announced Monday that the coaching staff picked the entire offense and defense to recognize as Players of the Week for their work Saturday. Three players were also recognized for special teams Players of the Week.
The decision of the coaching staff may be unusually, but it was certainly warranted. The Crimson Tide offense scored 59 points while accumulating 677 yards of total offense. The Tide rushed for 496 yards which is the sixth-most in a single game in school history. It is also the highest rushing output during Nick Saban’s time in Tuscaloosa.
The Crimson Tide defense was just as dominant on Saturday. The defense allowed just 78 yards and three first downs all afternoon. Vanderbilt was outmatched and could not get anything going in the shutout.
LB Dylan Moses, DB Daniel Wright, and DB Hootie Jones were the three players recognized for their efforts on special teams.
