Nick Saban wasn’t sure how to respond when asked about preparing for LSU linebacker Harold Perkins.
Perkins causes a lot of problems on defense for opposing teams. Saban doesn’t believe that what Perkins does can be simulated on the practice field.
Saban said at Wednesday’s presser that a player like Perkins would be starting at Alabama, not on the scout team.
“I don’t think you can simulate it,” said Saban. “If we had someone who could play like him, they’d be playing. They wouldn’t be on scout team.”

Saban might be right when it comes to Perkins. While the LSU defense has struggled this year, it’s not because of anything Perkins has done.
Perkins has 40 total tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 1 interception, and 2 forced fumbles. Alabama could have its hands full with stopping Perkins.
Fans will have to wait to see Perkins go up against the Alabama offense until Saturday. This game will have huge SEC West implications.
Kickoff will be at 7:45 p.m. ET on CBS.
