After an undefeated regular season, an SEC championship and the No. 1 spot in the College Football Playoff, Alabama coach Nick Saban has been nominated for a number of coaching awards.
On Tuesday, it was announced the Crimson Tide leader earned Regional Coach of the Year honors from the American Football Coaches Association.
According to an Alabama release, Saban received the Region 2 winner, which includes the SEC and Sun Belt conferences.
Navy’s Ken Niumatalolo (Region 1), Western Michigan’s P.J. Fleck (Region 3), West Virginia’s Dana Holgorsen (Region 4) and Colorado’s Mike MacIntyre (Region 5), were the other honorees.
The winner of the national award will be announced at a ceremony in Nashville on Jan. 10.
