Antonio Alfano was the the top-rated defensive end in the 2019 recruiting cycle by numerous outlets. The New Jersey native was widely viewed as a 5-star player and a key member of Alabama’s recruiting class.
But he’s missed time to start this season for personal reasons, and now coach Nick Saban revealed on Saturday that Alfano is dealing with “discipline things with me.” Alfano didn’t dress for the game against New Mexico State.
Alfano, a freshman, made a splash in the spring game with two sacks after the early enrollee reportedly gained 17 pounds in his first month on campus. He’s listed at 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds.
This is a situation to keep an eye on throughout the season.
