Nick Saban on beating Georgia: ‘This was the kind of game you come to Alabama to play’

After beating Georgia 41-24, Alabama is the only remaining undefeated team in the SEC.
As usual, the offense led the way for the Crimson Tide but the game was ultimately won thanks in large part to Nick Saban’s defense as Georgia was shutout of the second half after holding the lead at the halftime break, 24-20.
Saban also improved to 22-0 all-time against one of his former assistants by beating Kirby Smart yet again.
The Alabama coach shared his thoughts immediately after his team’s latest win.
“It felt great, it was a great win for our team, it was a great win for our fans,” Saban said. “Georgia has a great team, this was the kind of game you come to Alabama to play.
“Our players did a great job, they handled the disruption of the week very, very well. Showed a lot of maturity, played a lot better in the second half. Kind of got control of the game, I’m really proud of the players, the way they competed.
“We knew it was going to be a street fight, we knew we were going to have to go 15 rounds. I’m really proud of the way they did that.”
Saban on shutting out Georgia in the second half of the game:
“They responded well. We got a couple turnovers, which was really good. They missed a field goal, so we got some stops and I think that’s what our defense has to focus on, just getting stops. Not worrying about statistics and all that stuff, just getting stops.”
