Nick Saban has one of the biggest games of the season Saturday night as Alabama takes on LSU.

Ahead of the game, he spoke with CBS Sports’ Jenny Dell to give his final thoughts on the game.

Saban has a long history with both Alabama and LSU, so he knows that this rivalry is like from both sides.

“It’s a game that, when I was on the other side, we had a tremendous amount of respect for Alabama,” Saban said. “And now that I’m on this side, we have a tremendous amount of respect for LSU. We’ve had some great games through the years. Lots of great players in these games, and lots of great players in this game tonight.”

The emphasis for Saban on Saturday is containing LSU’s explosive offense. For Saban, that looks like playing team defense and being prepared for everything LSU throws at them.

“You gotta play great team defense,” Saban said. “They’re going to move the point of attack with their option game, the quarterbacks got great ability to hurt you throwing the ball down the field, they’ve got really good play action pass game. Offensive line is good, they can run the ball, they’ve got a really good back. When you talk about all those things, there’s not just one thing you have to do. You have to have all 11 guys knowing exactly what they’re supposed to do and trying to be physical in the way they do it, because that’s the kind of game it’s going to be.”

The matchup between Alabama and LSU kicks off at 7:45 p.m. ET Saturday night. Alabama is looking for a signature win to try and find its way into the CFP, while LSU is looking to take over the driver’s seat in the race for the SEC West.
