Nick Saban knows what he’s up against this week in Texas QB Quinn Ewers and RB Bijan Robinson.
The Alabama coach spoke about both during his Monday press conference ahead of the Crimson Tide’s visit to the Longhorns on Saturday.
About Robinson, Saban said, “This guy’s as good of an all-around back as there is in the country.”
Robinson at Texas is a third-year running back who has played in 19 games and made 16 starts. He ranks 21st all-time in Longhorn history with 1,830 career rushing yards. He’s expected to be in the running for several national awards this season, and was already chosen the 2022 Big 12 Preseason Offensive Player of the year and a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team.
He had 10 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown on Saturday in the opener against UL-Monroe.
As for Ewers, Saban said, “He’s a very, very talented passer. He’s got a very good feel for the game. He’s got a strong arm.”
Ewers was 16-for-24 passing last week for 225 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception.
Ewers has been a high-profile player since he was a high school recruit and chose to reclassify and eventually enroll at Ohio State and also received a lucrative name, image and likeness deal. He later transferred to Texas to be closer to home as he’s a native of Southlake.
