Nick Saban shared some high praise for SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings during Saturday’s edition of College GameDay.

Saban was previewing the highly-anticipated primetime matchup between Pitt and SMU when he began raving about Jennings and the Mustangs. He said he thinks undefeated Pitt will be “challenged” by SMU on Saturday night.

“I think they’re going to get challenged today because SMU’s quarterback, Kevin Jennings, may be the most underrated player in the country,” Saban said. “This guy leads the ACC in passing efficiency. All these good quarterbacks we talk about in the ACC, he’s been the most productive. And he’s a dual-threat guy and he can beat you run and pass.”

Jennings didn’t begin the year as SMU’s starter, but the Mustangs haven’t lost since he took over for Preston Stone back in September. Jennings has thrown for 1,594 yards and 10 touchdowns so far this season. He’s averaging 9.3 yards per attempt on the season, meaning he’s been very efficient overall.

As a runner, Jennings has been difficult for opposing defenses to corral. He’s already rushed for 321 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground this season.

Saturday night’s game between SMU and Pitt is a big one. Both teams remain undefeated in conference play, so the winner of this contest could be in position to reach the ACC Championship Game at the end of the year. Clemson and Miami also enter Week 10 with undefeated records in ACC play.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET.
