Alabama LB Shaun Dion Hamilton left Saturday’s SEC Championship Game with a scary-looking knee injury. The junior had to be helped off and wasn’t able to put any weight on the injured knee.

According to AL.com, the prognosis for Hamilton isn’t good. Coach Nick Saban said he’s expected to miss the rest of the season:

“Shaun Dion has a knee,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said. “He’s probably going to be out for the year. He’ll be missed, but we have a lot of confidence in Rashaan (Evans), and he did a good job for us today.”

Though Hamilton will be missed, LB Tim Williams said he expects the junior to have a similar presence to injured S Eddie Jackson moving forward:

“Oh, that’s a big loss but Shaun D is going to be around,” linebacker Tim Williams said. “Eddie Jackson was out there today on the sideline, cheering us on. Just being up for the teammates. Shaun D, he’s the same way. He’s a team guy. But that was a blow. He made a big play, a pick, things like that but. God didn’t bring him this far just to leave him. So he’s going to bounce back.”

Before he was injured, Hamilton intercepted a pass from Florida QB Austin Appleby and returned it 40 yards. He also recorded one tackle.
