No. 1 Alabama welcomes Southern Miss to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday. Will Hall’s Golden Eagles are 1-2, defeating FCS Grambling State and falling to South Alabama and Troy.

The Crimson Tide will be a heavy favorite in front of their home fans and should be 4-0 ahead of a massive contest against No. 11 Ole Miss, who is in an open week, on Oct. 2. Nick Saban, though, certainly has focused on keeping his team from looking past Saturday’s opponent.

In fact, as 247Sports’ Charlie Porter notes, the Golden Eagles are among the best in the country at stopping the run. They currently sit at 3rd in FBS in that department while overall, they rank 12th in total defense.

“I would equate their defense to an SEC-type defense in terms of the way they’ve played so far this year,” Saban said on his weekly radio appearance on Thursday.

Kickoff between the Crimson Tide and Golden Eagles is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
