Nick Saban’s track record of developing elite prospects was already legendary heading into the 2019 NFL Draft, now the Crimson Tide coach can boast no one has ever done that better than him.

Alabama had three players selected in the first round of the draft on Thursday as Quinnen Williams went No. 3 to the Jets, Jonah Williams went No. 11 to the Bengals and Josh Jacobs went No. 24 to the Raiders. The three selections from Alabama tied the most of any school as only Mississippi State and Clemson could match that number.

While Alabama may have been tied with those two programs following Thursday’s results, no coach can touch Saban when it comes to all-time first-round picks sent to the league.

For his career, Saban has now sent 34 first-round selections to the NFL. This number reflects Saban’s entire coaching career, not just his run in Tuscaloosa.

Former Penn State coach Joe Paterno previously held the record with 33 career first-round players sent to the NFL.
