Alabama is headed to its third straight national championship game, and Nick Saban will get a nice bonus for notching a win in the Sugar Bowl.
It is an incredible accomplishment for the Crimson Tide as they have appeared in the Playoff for four straight years and now have a shot to win a second national title in three seasons. Alabama’s defense was the key in the Sugar Bowl as the Tide shutdown Clemson and rolled to a 24-6 win.
The win is a big one for the program after making the Playoff as the No. 4 seed, but it is also significant for Saban’s paycheck. According to Steve Berkowitz with USA TODAY, Saban earned a $100,000 bonus for winning the semifinal matchup with Clemson.
That gives him $300,000 worth of bonuses earned so far this season with a shot to add another bonus in the national championship:

Opposing Alabama in the championship game will be the Georgia Bulldogs after they dispatched of Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl. The Bulldogs used a balanced offense and key defensive stops in the second half of that victory and will present an intriguing matchup for Saban and Alabama.
The championship game will be played Monday, Jan. 8 in Atlanta, Georgia.
