Lee Corso celebrated his 90th birthday on Thursday. As one would expect, ESPN celebrated right alongside him.

Earlier in the day, ESPN shared a 90-second highlight reel of some of Corso’s most iconic moments on the GameDay set. The network also shared his 90th headgear pick from back in October 2004 (a Wisconsin-Purdue game). Thursday afternoon, ESPN shared a montage of clips from Pat McAfee, Nick Saban, and a whole host of crew members from College GameDay wishing Corso a happy birthday.

“You’re a legend, man,” McAfee said. “From me and everything in this (bleeped) ocean, happy 90th birthday, brother. Cheers to many more.”

Said Saban: “Happy birthday to the real icon of college football.”

In April, the network announced that Corso would be retiring from broadcasting after nearly 4 decades at ESPN. He is set to make 1 final GameDay appearance in Week 1 when the traveling pregame show visits Columbus for the massive showdown between Ohio State and Texas.

ESPN has additional programming planned for the days leading up to that Aug. 30 broadcast that will celebrate Corso’s iconic career at the network. On Thursday, ESPN shared that a 1-hour special would air the week before his final GameDay appearance.

Corso’s headgear segment began in October of 1995 at a game featuring Ohio State, so it’s fitting that his final broadcast will once again feature the Buckeyes. According to ESPN, Corso has gone 286-144 in his 430 selections.
