Alabama linebacker Chris Allen left Saturday’s 44-13 win over Miami in the second quarter with a foot injury and never returned.
After the game, while no official diagnosis was available, there was concern within the Crimson Tide program that the injury could be serious.
On Monday, during his weekly press conference, Alabama coach Nick Saban confirmed those fears, revealing that Allen would be undergoing surgery and that it would likely result in the end of his season.

Allen, a 6-4, 242-pound redshirt senior, was a 2nd-team All-SEC selection a year ago. He led the conference with 13 tackles for losses in 2020 and also added 6 sacks.
Sophomore Drew Sanders, who was rated as a 5-star recruit and the No. 13 overall prospect in his class by 247Sports, is expected to move into Allen’s starting spot.
