The Alabama Crimson Tide lost one of their best offensive weapons in their win over Tennessee earlier this season.
WR Jaylen Waddle suffered an ankle injury on the opening kickoff return and was initially ruled out for the season. Lately, though, he has been spotted walking without his boot — an encouraging sign.
On Wednesday night, coach Nick Saban provided an update on Waddle’s status. He said the boot is off and Waddle is running again, but he hasn’t returned to practice:
Saban on Jaylen Waddle: "His rehab is going great. He's out of a cast, out of a boot. He's running on the treadmill. He's making good progress day to day. He's not practicing."

That’s certainly an encouraging sign for Waddle. So, while it doesn’t seem like he’ll be back this weekend for the SEC Championship Game, there does seem to be at least a slim chance that he could return for the College Football Playoff.
Waddle’s status will be something to monitor moving forward.
