He is just the 11th head coach to reach the 200-win mark, joining Penn State’s Joe Paterno with 409 victories, Florida State’s Bobby Bowden with 304, BYU’s LaVell Edwards with 257, Nebraska’s Tom Osborne with 255, Chicago’s Amos Alonzo Stagg with 244, Virginia Tech’s Frank Beamer with 238, Alabama’s Paul “Bear” Bryant with 224 at Alabama, Kansas State’s Bill Snyder with 215, Ohio State’s Woody Hayes with 205 and Georgia’s Vince Dooley with 201.
Saban’s 200th win also makes Alabama the only program to have 2 coaches with 200 wins. Since taking over as head coach of Alabama, Saban has posted a record of 200-28.
Saban’s 200th win wasn’t an easy one. After taking a 21-6 lead in the first half, Arkansas managed to bring the game within 3 points, but a clutch drive from the Tide and Jalen Milroe secured the win.
Saban will be looking for win 201 next Saturday as he and the Tide take on Tennessee.
