Nick Saban had some thoughts after his team defeated the Tennessee Volunteers in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

The coach was asked if his team was a finished product and what his takeaways were from the team’s effort.

“Well, it’s great the way we played in the second half, but you know, you could make an argument that we weren’t a finished product in the first half,” explained Saban.

The Tide fell into a 20-7 hole at halftime, but dominated in the 2nd half, scoring 27 unanswered points to secure a 34-20 victory.

“It takes a lot of resiliency, a lot of perseverance from those players to bounce back from that, because it was a horrible way to end the first half,” Saban said. “I can’t say enough about the competitive spirit that they have when they need to have it.”

Saban’s Tide will have a bye week before gearing up to play the LSU Tigers at home on Nov. 4. After the Tigers, the Tide still have Kentucky, Chattanooga, and Auburn on the schedule.

The game against the LSU Tigers could have major implications for Saban’s squad. The Tigers currently have just a 19.2% chance to win the SEC West according to ESPN’s FPI, but beating Bama head-to-head would change that calculus.
