Alabama dropped Vanderbilt 59-0 on Saturday in Nashville. It would not have been possible for the Crimson Tide to play much better.
Every aspect of the game, Alabama owned. Head coach Nick Saban acknowledged that in his post-game press conference.
The always-humble Saban didn’t want to say this was a “great” win. It was just “pretty good.”
Saban: “All in all, this was a pretty good win for us”

Nick Saban: “There’s a difference in winning and defeating your opponent … I think they earned a lot of respect today.”
— Charlie Potter (@Charlie_Potter) September 23, 2017
He acknowledged that he was proud of his team for dominating the game the way it did. He said he challenged his team to beat Vanderbilt from “start to finish.”
The shutout win stemmed from what Alabama was able to do earlier in the week:
Saban: “I thought this was our best week of practice defensively. And it showed the way we played in the game.”

Of course, Saban still saw some room for improvement on Saturday:
Saban wants to clean up dropped balls. Mentioned uncharacteristic drop by Calvin Ridley and the drop by Bo.

Saban on offensive execution: ”I can’t say anything negative except that we dropped a couple of balls” #RollTide #BAMAvsVandy

Alabama was able to get its younger players involved in the game.
Saban: playing time for young players was very valuable. Says they were challenged to make a difference this week #BAMAvsVandy #RollTide

Saban also had a hilarious response when asked about playing a tackle at tight end:
