Alabama football is about as shaky as we have ever seen it over recent history, and all of the thoughts of the Crimson Tide being in the midst of their fall from a dynasty team seem more validated than ever after they fell to the Texas Longhorns in the second week of the season.
After this, Nick Saban’s team has received plenty of criticism. And the head coach isn’t shying away from it — he recognizes it and is taking the blame.
“People get upset that we get criticized,” Saban said. “But why wouldn’t we get criticized if we don’t play well?”
Saban says he’s gotten calls where people will call someone else a “jerk” because of negative things they had said about him. He doesn’t agree with those statements, because at the end of the day, he sees areas of improvement both for the team and the role he plays in it.
“He really isn’t (a jerk). It’s right,” Saban said. “We didn’t play good and I’m responsible for that… In the real world, where you don’t perform and you don’t produce, you probably get criticized.”
