Nick Saban said Alabama was ready for Arkansas’ fake field goal, and despite its success, the Alabama coach said the defensive plan was there.

“We were trying to cover the guy,” Nick Saban said after Alabama’s 42-35 win. “They’d run a fake field goal against LSU last week so we actually worked on it and called the defense that we wanted to play against it. Still got rubbed off and didn’t make the play.”

It was simply a matter of a defender getting held up by an official as Reid Bauer launched a jump pass to Blake Kern for 32 yards and a touchdown. It capped a 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive and pulled the Razorbacks within 34-28.

“We knew it was coming,” linebacker Henry To’o To’o said. “Everybody has a man and DeMarcco (Hellams) just kind of ran into the ref. We all have a man and we were prepared for it.”
