Nick Saban had an encouraging update to pass along Wednesday on one of his key players.

Meeting with reporters at Disneyland, Saban shared that Alabama RB Jase McClellan looks good to go after missing the SEC Championship Game with a foot injury.

“Jase is doing great, Saban told reporters. “He practiced yesterday and today. Looks good. We gave him a lot of time off to heal his foot and it looks like it paid off.”

“Barring some setback, the way he’s practiced, I don’t see why he couldn’t play the game,” Saban added when asked about the running back’s Rose Bowl status.

McClellan leads the Alabama ground game, having logged 166 carries for 803 yards in 12 games. In the SEC Championship Game, the Crimson Tide managed 114 rushing yards, led by Roydell Williams’ 16 carries for 64 yards and 1 touchdown. Williams bests McClellan in yards per carry (5.10 to 4.84), while Milroe leads the team in rushing scores with 12 touchdowns.

No. 4 Alabama vs. No. 1 Michigan in the Rose Bowl is set for New Year’s Day at 5 p.m. ET, airing on ESPN.
