Thanks to the injury bug, Alabama has dealt with a lack of available options at running back throughout the 2021 season.
Camar Wheaton, a freshman who signed as a 5-star recruit in the class of 2021, has been sidelined. In October, Saban described Wheaton’s issue as a meniscus injury. Saban was asked for a status update in his Wednesday press conference.
“Camar Wheaton’s still rehabbing,” Saban told reporters. “He’s not on the field yet. He’s got a ways to go.”
Saban was answering a question that asked about Wheaton, Roydell Williams and Trey Sanders. He did not name Williams or Sanders in his response but indicated he is happy with what he has seen from the trio.
“Those guys have done well,” Saban said of the running backs. “They’ve all done a good job. They’ve done a good job when they get opportunities in the game. I think their experience is certainly helping their confidence. We’ve been really pleased with what they’ve been able to do to this point.”
