Nick Saban is a busy guy, what with coaching the No. 1 overall team in the country and all.
But, this weekend, Alabama’s game against LSU was postponed (and potentially canceled), so he reportedly spent Saturday night watching movies with family. Then, on Sunday, he managed to catch a bit of NFL action.
Saban watched former Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa make his third NFL start — the first game Saban has seen. He said he liked what he saw from his former QB (via AL.com):
“I thought he played really well,” Saban said Monday. “I was really proud of him. Made some really good throws. Led the team to victory. Moving them down the field, answered the bell when they needed to in the fourth quarter.
“Always makes me proud for every player we have in the NFL to see them do well and that’s what the program’s all about: trying to help these guys improve and fulfill their dreams of what they want to do in the future on and off the field. It’s always very self-fulfilling to see guys having success doing that.”
Tagovailoa has the Dolphins alive in the AFC East race with a 6-3 overall record. The defense has been the big story, but Tagovailoa is making plays when he has to.
We’ll see if he can keep Miami marching toward the postseason.
