Nick Saban put retirement rumors to bed Thursday afternoon on the Pat McAfee Show. At least for now.

The Alabama head coach joined former NFL punter and current ESPN personality Pat McAfee Thursday to discuss, among other things, his standing in an ever-changing CFB world.

With NIL on the rise, Saban’s stance and – let’s face it – a few down years for the Alabama program, it’s not hard to see why rumors of his retirement would start swirling. But the 71-year-old still insists he feels “great right now” during Year 17 in Tuscaloosa.

Here’s his quote regarding retirement:

“It’s kind of laughable. … I love what I’m doing, and I’m focused on the challenge… I feel great right now. I love it. We’ve got lots of challenges this season, I’m looking forward to it and we’re all in.”

Here’s more from Saban:

Many people are quick to write off Alabama after last week’s loss to a great Texas team. But in reality, the rest of the SEC West has not shown it can keep up with the Crimson Tide’s pure arsenal of talent yet. A good measuring stick for the Tide comes in Week 4 against Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss.
