The biggest question heading into Alabama’s 2016 season is who will man the starting quarterback position.
Right now, it’s a four-person battle between junior Cooper Bateman, sophomore David Cornwell, redshirt freshman Blake Barnett and true freshman Jalen Hurts.
After Saturday’s scrimmage, the first of Alabama’s fall camp, coach Nick Saban addressed the quarterback battle. He said Cornwell didn’t see much action, but the other three competitors balanced first-team reps:
#Bama CNS: David Cornwell was limited. Other 3 QBs had opportunities with each group. That decision is far from getting made.

With Barnett, Bateman and Hurts, Saban said there were some up-and-down performances:
Saban on quarterbacks: "All three guys did some really good things."

Saban also addressed the running game, which he said needs to improve. But, he added, Bo Scarbrough stood out in limited action:
Saban on RBs: "Bo Scarbrough looked good early, got a little dinged. The young guys did a pretty decent job. They can be contributors."

There were a couple of injuries Saban mentioned during the press conference, but nothing that sounds too major:
Injuries: Dalvin Tomlinson- twisted ankle
Da'Shawn Hand did not scrimmage- Back on Monday
A few concussions— Stephen M. Smith (@CoachingMSmith) August 13, 2016
The hunt for a quarterback continues as Alabama approaches its season opener on Saturday, Sept. 3, against USC. But, if the Tide can avoid any major injuries, Saban sounds pretty confident in the other aspects of Alabama’s game.
