Alabama and Tennessee boast one of the most exciting rivalries in all of college football.

For the first time in a while, the rivalry is actually competitive with Tennessee making the jump over the last few seasons. Last season, the Vols took the game for the first time in 15 years in dramatic fashion on a last-second field goal.

Nick Saban’s dominance for most this century is on his mind, but now he knows the game could go either way. And with future SEC scheduling, its place on the calendar on the Third Saturday in October could be in jeopardy. Saban is aware.

“I think that’s happening all over college football where you’re going to have these great rivalry games, where players, fans, everyone in programs sort of look forward to, that you’re not going to be able to exist on a year-to-year basis,” Saban said during the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday. “I think there’s a lot of people that are disappointed in some of those things.”

Tennessee and Alabama match up well on paper this season. Both have similar stats and come into the game with one loss. Both the Vols and the Tide will be looking for a signature win heading into the game, which should lead to a fun matchup.
