Jalyn Armour-Davis appears to be in line to be one of Alabama’s starting cornerbacks as the Crimson Tide open their season against Miami on Saturday in Atlanta. It will be a big test right out of the gate for the redshirt junior, who had primarily been a special teams contributor and received little playing time up until that point.
With star cornerback Patrick Surtain II now in the NFL, that’s opened up an opportunity for Armour-Davis, who was listed as one of the starters along with senior Josh Jobe on the depth chart.
Last Wednesday, head coach Nick Saban noted that the Mobile, Ala. native was “banged up” in practice, but during his game-week press conference on Wednesday, he provided an update, stating that Armour-Davis was at “100 percent” and will be good to go for Saturday against the Hurricanes. It wasn’t revealed what the injury was, but Armour-Davis had suffered a knee injury that caused him to redshirt his freshman season in 2018.
The Tide and Hurricanes kick off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
