Nick Saban and Alabama dismantled MTSU 56-7 to finish Week 1 with a 1-0 record. As expected.

The question coming into Saturday’s matchup was not whether Alabama would win or lose. It was whether or not Jalen Milroe would look poised at the helm of the Tide’s offense. And while there is much to improve on, Milroe’s start was not a bad one.

Following the game, reporters asked Nick Saban how he felt Milroe’s play could help the QB room moving forward.

In classic Saban fashion, Alabama’s head coach gave quite the answer. He grabbed a coke bottle that was at the podium and told the reporter, “This is a coke bottle, it’s not a crystal ball.”

Here’s the video from the interaction:

Here’s a look at Milroe’s final line against MTSU: 13 completions on 18 attempts for 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions through the air and 7 carries for 48 yards and 2 touchdowns. Incredibly, Milroe became the first Alabama QB to total at least 3 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns in a single game.

Milroe beat out Ty Simpson and Tyler Buchner for the starting job. Both of Alabama’s backups played sparingly in the win.
