Nick Saban and Alabama travel to Fayetteville to face Arkansas on Saturday. The Crimson Tide should face a much stiffer challenge than the one they did during a 55-3 rout of Vanderbilt at Bryant-Denny Stadium during Week 4. That’s leaving out the fact that the Tide beat the Razorbacks 42-35 last year behind a record day from Bryce Young, their 14th straight victory in the series.
During the game against Vandy, though, the Tide lost 2 key defensive players: defensive lineman Byron Young sprained his ankle while defensive back Jordan Battle injured his right leg.
On Wednesday, Saban updated the status of both Battle and Young, saying that the 2 had practiced earlier in the day.
“Hopefully, they’ll both be ready for the game. But it’s day to day,” he said.
Young, who totaled 40 tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss, and 2 sacks in 2021, has a pair of TFLs, half a sack, and 9 tackles through 4 games this season. Meanwhile, Battle, who had 84 tackles, 3 interceptions, and a pair of pick-6s a year ago, has 14 tackles so far in 2022.
