With another national championship comes another house built for a good cause.
Alabama coach Nick Saban and his wife, Terry, through Nick’s Kids Foundation, will now build a 16th home in Tuscaloosa following the Crimson Tide’s 45-40 win over Clemson to win the national title, the school’s 16th in school history.
The Sabans made a commitment to build 13 homes — one for each of the school’s national championships at the time — in the wake of the April 27, 2011, tornadoes that leveled Tuscaloosa.
The project has grown with each national championship since then as homes No. 14 and 15 were built after national titles in 2011 and 2012. The initiative is now called the 16 for 16 Project, part of the Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa.
“This project is a true testament of the limitless possibilities when our volunteers and Nick’s Kids members commit to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Ms. Terry Saban, co-founder and CEO of Nick’s Kids Foundation.
The 16th house’s groundbreaking starts right away, and the new homeowners will be the Anthony Taylor Family. Anthony Taylor works all night as a bus driver at the University of Alabama while also having a newspaper route and studying at Stillman College to become a minister. He’ll be joined by his wife and two children of 11 and 12 years old.
Born and raised in Gainesville, Talal joined SDS in 2015 after spending 2 years in Bristol as an ESPN researcher. Previously, Talal worked at The Gainesville Sun.
