Nigel Knott’s playing career never panned out in Tuscaloosa and now he’ll give it a go at another school.
Knott arrived at Alabama after being rated as one of the nation’s best defensive back prospects in the 2016 recruiting cycle but injuries, unfortunately, derailed his playing career with the Crimson Tide. Knott did manage to see the field for 10 games back in 2018 but has not seen the field since that season due to injuries.
At one point, the defensive back appeared to have no future in football as Nick Saban announced Knott had medically retired but the Madison, Miss., native did not give up on his playing career and continued to focus on his rehab while sitting out the 2019 season.
After recently graduating from Alabama, Knott will continue his playing career at ECU, according to Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports. Knott will have two years of eligibility remaining at ECU.
Following Thamel’s report, Knott announced the news himself on Twitter: “I have decided to continue my football career at ECU.”
Here’s to hoping Knott can stay injury-free and find success on the field now that he’s been given a new opportunity to continue his collegiate playing career.
