The rivalry between the SEC and the Big 10 has heated up in some pretty big ways over the past 10 years or so, as the 2 powerhouse conferences have been vying for the title of best in all of college football.
One of the main factors stoking this longstanding beef between the two Power 4 juggernauts has been the banter and debate between the loyal fanbases that reside within each of these historic conferences.
Everybody from Alabama and Ohio State fans to Vanderbilt and Northwestern fans can be found going back and forth on every forum available about which conference is better than the other, and this includes massive national broadcasts like Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff.
The iconic pre-game program was up in the Windy City for the matchup between the No. 4 Oregon Ducks and the unranked Northwestern Wildcats, and cameras caught an enthusiastic Wildcats’ fan proudly displaying a message on her phone aimed directly at the SEC.
The message read “The SEC is full of frauds” in all caps, and the Fox Big Noon camera crew caught the stray clear as day live and in color on national television.
It truly is a testament to just how deep the rivalry between the SEC and Big 10 runs that a random Northwestern fan can take the time to take shots during a Week 3 pregame show that doesn’t even involve an SEC team.
It’s also stuff like this that makes college football such a special and unique sport as well, and there is sure to be plenty more trash talk between the two conferences as the season rolls along.
