Not giving up: Tebow getting hot at the plate in spring training

The World Baseball Classic, an international tournament going on right now, may have benefitted one of the most unlikely candidates: Tim Tebow.
Monday’s announcement from the New York Mets that Tebow would receive a third start came as a surprise. Mets manager Terry Collins had previously told reporters he did not expect for Tebow to remain with the club after an 0-for-7 performance at the plate in two starts last week. Due to the WBC and some split-squad contests on the Mets’ spring training schedule, the team decided to keep him around while roster numbers are low. Tebow has made the most of that opportunity to leave a positive impression.
Tebow got his first spring training hit on Monday, which led to a predictable response on Twitter. Wednesday, he got two more hits, an infield single and a liner to center, and also made an impressive catch in left field. Despite his recent 3-for-6 performance at the plate, all indications are that this was Tebow’s last game in the big league camp. At least he’s leaving on a high note.
