Notre Dame came into Saturday’s game against Cincinnati ranked No. 9. That ranking is about to drop as the No. 7 Cincinnati handed the Irish their first loss of the 2021 season, 24-13 in South Bend.

As expected, college football fans are ripping Notre Dame as overrated. Here’s a small sample of what’s being said about the Fighting Irish on Twitter:

The loss to Cincinnati snaps Notre Dame’s 26-game home winning streak. Notre Dame opened as a 1.5-point favorite for Saturday’s game, per OddsShark.

While Notre Dame still has plenty of Power 5 opponents left on the schedule, a home loss to a Group of 5 team may be enough to sink the Irish’s College Football Playoff hopes in October.
