College football teams are supposed to take every season one game at a time, but fans, bettors and handicappers are always looking ahead.

Danny Sheridan, one of the most prominent college football handicappers and analysts, made an appearance at the Fightin’ Gator Touchdown Club in Gainesville, Florida on Thursday night to talk UF football and happenings around the SEC. After his talk to the club, Sheridan spoke with Saturday Down South to share some hypothetical early lines on some of the biggest games remaining in the SEC.

Being in Gainesville at a Gator club, UF was naturally on Sheridan’s mind, but he was also happy to offer a hypothetical line for the Iron Bowl as well as another big November game for Gus Malzahn’s squad. Sheridan’s hypothetical lines are all as of right now, before Saturday’s Week 5 games:

  • Florida – 3 vs. Auburn (Oct. 5 in Gainesville)
  • LSU -11.5 vs. Florida (Oct. 12 in Baton Rouge)
  • Georgia -10 vs. Florida (Nov. 2 in Jacksonville)
  • Georgia -7-to-7.5 at Auburn (Nov. 16 in Auburn)
  • Alabama -14-to-14.5 at Auburn (Nov. 30 in Auburn)

Sheridan said Florida would be the favorite over Auburn due to home-field advantage.

“I can’t imagine anything that would make Auburn the favorite in Gainesville,” Sheridan told SDS on Thursday night ahead of the Week 5 slate.

Sheridan pointed out that the Florida-LSU line could change based on what happens the week before.

“Florida has a chance to tighten the line if they beat Auburn,” Sheridan said. “But it’s a huge revenge game for LSU, and there’s a lot of bad blood between the two schools.”

As for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, Sheridan pointed to what happened in UF’s earlier neutral-site Sunshine State clash in 2019.

“The problem for Florida is that Georgia’s defensive line is really good while Florida’s offensive line is inexperienced,” Sheridan said. “I picked Miami against Florida (against the spread) because Miami has a good defensive line. (Florida QB) Feleipe Franks was running for his life against Miami and Florida probably should have lost that one. We’re at least a year away from the old Florida-Georgia lines where somebody’s a three-point favorite.”
