Offseason woes look to continue for Virginia Tech as starting QB Josh Jackson reportedly suspended indefinitely
Things aren’t exactly looking up for Virginia Tech these days as the Hokies have been hit with a serious streak of misfortune in recent weeks.
The latest news could potentially be the most damning as the team’s starting quarterback, Josh Jackson, has reportedly been suspended indefinitely by the school due to his academics. This news comes via Mike McDaniel of ESPN Blacksburg. Jackson started all 13 games for the Hokies last season as a freshman, throwing for 2,991 yards and 20 touchdowns in addition to 324 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Jackson’s father Fred has responded to the claims and issued the following statement to Mike Barber of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
“As of right now, Josh is still a member of the Virginia Tech football team. We’ll know more in two days. It’s too early to talk about this,” Fred Jackson is quoted as saying.
Virginia Tech has yet to publicly comment on these reports.
This is the latest in what has been a terrible few weeks for Justin Fuente’s program as senior defensive back Adonis Alexander left the program recently and junior college defensive back signee Jeremy Webb was lost for the season due to injury.
