Oklahoma has just 1 representative on the preseason all-Big 12 team, which was released on Wednesday afternoon.

Ethan Downs was the lone Sooner to make the cut after he went for 13.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks last season. He’s expected to be one of the top pass rushers in the Big 12 again in 2023.

The preseason all-Big 12 team was voted on by the media. Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas, TCU, Cincinnati and Texas Tech all had multiple players make the team.

Oklahoma defensive end Danny Stutsman is arguably the biggest snub from this list. Stutsman led the Big 12 with 124 total tackles last season. He also recorded 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

The Sooners boast a strong transfer class that could feature multiple players who factor into the end-of-year all-Big 12 team. That list includes offensive lineman Walter Rouse and linebacker Dasan McCullough.

This is Oklahoma’s final season in the Big 12 before it moves to the SEC ahead of the 2024 campaign. OU will kick off the year against Arkansas State in Norman on Sept. 2.
