Oklahoma lands commitment from in-state WR prospect in class of 2026
The Oklahoma Sooners are off to a strong start this season as they dominated Illinois State 35-3 in Week 1. But the excitement doesn’t stop on the field — they are also making waves on the recruiting trail.
On Tuesday, one of Oklahoma’s top in state targets, Xavier Okwufulueze from rejoice Christian School in Owasso, announced his commitment to the Sooners via social media. This makes the 19th commitment for head coach Brent Venables and the 2026 recruiting class and adds another strong offensive prospect to the group.
At 6-foot-4, 195 pounds, Okwufulueze is ranked as the No. 40 overall athlete and No. 8 prospect in Oklahoma by 247 Sports composite. He chose OU over strong competitors like Arkansas, TCU and Oklahoma State.
During his Junior campaign, he showcases versatility by excelling on both sides of the ball as a corner back and a wide receiver. His contributions were pivotal, leading Rejoice Christian to a 13-1 season and an Oklahoma A-1 State title.
Oklahoma’s 2026 recruiting class currently ranks No. 20 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
The Sooners will host Michigan in a marquee matchup on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
