Oklahoma’s injury woes at wide receiver don’t appear to be getting any better in Week 2.
The Sooners will once again be without starting wide receiver Nic Anderson vs. Houston, according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Anderson emerged as one of OU’s top targets in the passing game last season, but has been sidelined with an injury to start 2024.
He was considered questionable for this week’s game, but will not be able to play according to this report. Per Zenitz, he could be back in the Sooners’ lineup as early as next week:
Oklahoma is set to be without star wide receiver Nic Anderson vs. Houston tonight due to an injury, sources tell @247Sports/@CBSSports.

Anderson is one of several Oklahoma wide receivers who has been dealing with an injury to start the season. Andrel Anthony, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last fall, is still working his way back. Jayden Gibson’s season came to an end after he suffered a knee injury during fall camp. And then just last week, Jalil Farooq broke his foot against Temple and is expected to be out for 6-8 weeks.
Deion Burks, a Purdue transfer, was Oklahoma’s top wideout in the season-opener with 3 touchdowns against Temple. Brenen Thompson and JJ Hester are expected to have increased roles while OU’s WR room gets healthy.
Over at Underdog, Burks is projected for 66.5 receiving yards for Oklahoma’s game against Houston in Week 2. Here’s an Underdog Fantasy promo code to help you get started with up to $1,000 in bonus cash when you sign up.
Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
