Olaus Alinen, 4-star offensive tackle out of Connecticut, makes SEC commitment

Olaus Alinen, the top player in the state of Connecticut in the class of 2023, has announced a commitment to play in the SEC.

Alinen, who has a reported 45 offers, said he would play at Alabama. Alinen is listed at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds and is from Windsor, Connecticut (The Loomis Chaffee School). In April, the Finland native announced finalists, and besides Alabama, they were Georgia, Miami and Ohio State. He is rated the No. 14 offensive tackle recruit in the class of 2023, and the No. 127 player in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Alinen’s announcement came on on CBS Sports HQ, and is the third lineman the Crimson Tide has added to its 2023 class.

“My journey will be continuing at the University of Alabama,” Alinen said surrounded by his family in Pori, Finland. “Alabama’s program is the No. 1 out there. It was my dream school.”

Alinen’ parents came to the United States for official visits to each of his contending schools, AL.com reported. Alinen’s dad, Klaus Alinen, was a tight end for NFL Europe and was on the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad for a season. Miami had been trending for the younger Alinen, marking Friday’s decision a recruiting trail win for Alabama. Alinen said the race was “really tight” and he decided a few days ago.
