A matchup between Ole Miss and Baylor would be a high-scoring affair that everyone would watch.
Well, it would help if they were to play sometime soon.
Still, Rebels athletic director Ross Bjork told SEC Country that the two schools are in talks to play a game in 2020. The Bears have been criticized for not scheduling tougher non-conference opponents, and they’re apparently trying to rectify that.
Ole Miss and Baylor represented two of the highest-scoring offenses in the FBS this past season with both ranking among the top 10 and the Bears ranking 1st (48.1 points per game).
Ole Miss doesn’t need this matchup as much as Baylor, which missed the playoff in its inaugural year in part because of a weak non-conference slate.
Who knows what the state of each program will be like five seasons from now, but it’s something to look forward to. As for now, Rebels fans are focused on a tough non-conference game that’ll come around much sooner as they face Florida State in the 2016 season-opener in Orlando.
