Ole Miss freshman cornerback Dante Core was arrested in Alabama this week on drug charges.

According to a report from the Clarion Ledger, Core was arrested on charges of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia just after midnight on Dec. 26. He was arrested by Andalusia Police in Covington County, Alabama.

The arrest comes just days before Ole Miss will face off against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl with a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinals on the line. The Clarion Ledger reports that Ole Miss let players go home over Christmas but they were due back in Oxford on Dec. 26.

Core is finishing up his true freshman season at Ole Miss. He signed with the Rebels as a 3-star cornerback in the class of 2025. He was the No. 60 cornerback in the country for that recruiting cycle, per 247 Sports Composite rankings.

Core has not played in a game so far this season for Ole Miss. The Rebels primarily played 4 cornerbacks this season, with Antonio Kite and Chris Graves Jr. earning the majority of the snaps.

It’s unclear what this arrest will mean for his future at the program in 2026 and beyond.

Ole Miss and Georgia will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on New Year’s Day.
