Ole Miss freshman Corey Adams was shot and killed in a Memphis-area shooting on Saturday night, according to multiple reports.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s office identified Adams as the victim of a shooting on Sunday morning. Detectives say the incident took place outside a residence at 10:14 p.m. on Saturday night. Police say they stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Forest Hill-Irene and Walnut Grove when they found a gunshot victim.
Police attempted life-saving measures but Adams was pronounced dead at the scene by Shelby County Fire personnel.
Police said 4 other gunshot victims arrived at area hospitals on Saturday night. Per police, all 4 are listed in non-critical condition.
Adams signed with Ole Miss in the class of 2025 and enrolled back in January. A 3-star recruit, Adams chose Ole Miss over programs like TCU, Houston and Oregon, among others.
Prior to enrolling at Ole Miss, Adams attended Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. While Ole Miss has not yet issued a public comment on the news as of publication, fans and media have begun sending thoughtful messages and tributes to Adams on social media.
