Hugh Freeze has the Rebels’ program on a roll, and now he’s getting rewarded for it.
Ole Miss gave Freeze a raise that will pay him $4.93 million over the next four years. Freeze was scheduled to make $4.31 million for the 2016 season before this contract was put together.
With the deal, Freeze is now the third-highest paid coach in the conference behind only Alabama’s Nick Saban ($7.09M) and Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin ($5M).
The deal is also a one-year extension, keeping him through the 2019 season.
Meanwhile, Freeze’s nine assistants will also be getting bumps in pay. Their budgets increase from $3.11M to $4.26M.
Ole Miss’ win total has increased every season since he’s been in Oxford, winning seven in his debut season in 2012, eight in 2013 and nine in 2014 before notching a 10-win campaign and a convincing 48-20 Sugar Bowl victory over Oklahoma State this season.
