Ole Miss has added some quarterback depth for the 2025 season.
The Rebels earned a commitment from former Rice quarterback Shawqi Itraish on Wednesday afternoon. Itraish spent 3 seasons with the Owls before entering the transfer portal. He visited Oxford earlier this month before making this decision.

Itraish is the third transfer quarterback to join the Rebels so far this offseason as they look to build out their QB room behind presumed starter Austin Simmons. Ole Miss has also earned commitments from Trinidad Chambliss (Ferris State) and Maealiuaki Smith (Oklahoma State).
Itraish doesn’t have much experience at the FBS level. He didn’t attempt a pass in 2024 and previously served as mostly a backup for Rice. He’s completed 24-of-45 pass attempts for 216 yards, 0 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in his career.
As always, Lane Kiffin and the Rebels have been very active in the transfer portal so far this offseason. Itraish is the 30th transfer to commit to Ole Miss during this cycle. Overall, Ole Miss’s portal class ranks No. 4 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
