Ole Miss has formed a search committee to find its next athletics director and named the people involved in the search.

The committee includes representatives from Ole Miss football, baseball and women’s basketball, as well as faculty and members of the M-Club.

Nathanael Gabler of The Oxford Eagle reported on the partial list, which includes Mike Glenn (committee chair), David Morris, Peggie Gillom-Granderson, Jesse Mitchell, Ron Rychlak, Wesley Walls and Archie Manning (only in advisory capacity). Glenn is an Ole Miss alumnus and former FedEx executive vice president.

Walls is a former Ole Miss tight end from the mid-1980s, who was also a member of the 1988 team that beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Walls has been honored as an SEC Living Legend, and inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. He played in the NFL from 1989-2003, and won a Super Bowl with San Francisco in 1990.

Morris played at Ole Miss from 1998 to 2002, now runs QB Country, a quarterback coaching academy for high school quarterbacks.

Gabler noted that since Ross Bjork left the job after seven years for Texas A&M in May, former deputy athletics director for development and resource acquisition Keith Carter has been acting as interim athletic director. The university did not mention whether or not Carter would interview for the full-time position.
