Ole Miss is in danger of dropping its first game of the 2024 season.
The Rebels are losing 10-7 at the half to Kentucky on Saturday afternoon in Oxford. It’s been a rough half offensively for the Rebels, who are playing their first power-conference opponent of the year.
Ole Miss averaged just 5.6 yards per play in the first half and most of that production came on its first drive of the game. The Rebels opened things up with a touchdown to start the game on a 6-play, 83-yard drive. After that, Ole Miss managed a total of just 46 yards on 17 plays.
Defensively, the Rebels played pretty well. Kentucky managed just 161 total yards in the first half and averaged just 4 yards per play. The Wildcats didn’t take the lead until they found the end zone for the first time with just 27 seconds remaining in the half.
That score, a touchdown pass from Brock Vandagriff to Dane Key, came at the end of a 13-play, 81-yard drive.

Per ESPN, this is just the second time that Ole Miss is trailing at the half in a home game during the Lane Kiffin era. The only other time came back in 2020 against Florida. The Gators won that game 51-35.
Kentucky’s last win over Ole Miss came back in 2011.
