The 4th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels have their hands absolutely full of Washington State on Saturday – at least through the first quarter.
Zevi Eckhaus’ 26-yard touchdown pass to Landon Wright has the Cougars ahead 7-0 after 15 minutes of play in Oxford.
Ole Miss outgained Washington State 115-80 in the first quarter, but were unable to muster any points. The Rebels stalled out on a 4th-and-3 at the Cougars 4-yard line on their first drive, and then Lucas Carneiro missed a 47-yard field goal on the second drive of the quarter.
The Rebels entered Saturday’s game as a 33-point favorite over Washington State – which lost lopsided decisions to North Texas and Washington earlier this season before overcoming Colorado State 20-3 last week. The last time a 33-point underdog (or worse) won an FBS game outright was in 2012 when Texas State beat Houston as 37-point dogs.
Ole Miss, on the other hand, has earned wins against Georgia State, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tulane and then-No. 4 LSU to get to 5-0.
