Ole Miss, and newly-promoted head coach Pete Golding, will host Tulane at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

The Rebels, thanks to a high-octane offense, are a good bet to at least make a deep run in the Playoff, if not among a handful of favorites to win it all. First, though, they’ll need to get past the Green Wave, a team they beat 45-10 on Sept. 20.

According to Circa Sports’ opening odds for the first-round matchup in Oxford, another blowout could be in the making. The Rebels are a 16-point favorite:

The game on Sept. 20 was all Rebels. They opened up a 23-3 lead and added 22 more in the fourth quarter to cruise to a win. Trinidad Chambliss threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns on 17-of-27 passing, adding 112 yards on 14 carries. In fact, Chambliss’s passing yardage was greater than the Green Wave’s entire offensive output.

That’s been just one of Tulane’s two losses on the year. On Oct. 30, it fell to UTSA.

It won’t be the last time Golding faces Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall, who will take the reins at Florida when the season ends. The Gators will host the Rebels at the Swamp in 2026.
